DIY stump table

sooo.... we live in the woods. well, pretty much. we cut down a tree not too long ago because it was getting to close to the retainer wall. i told the hubster that i wanted to keep part of the tree stump to make a side table, so he made it happen (happy dance). then i got online looking for inspiration and i found lots!

there's some where they left the bark on it:
this image was found on ourhumbleabowed.wordpress.com
but the website is no longer there when i went to link it

some people added legs or wheels:

some people painted:
couldn't find original source to give credit

I have to say i really thought aout painting mine white for a while.... but i decided against it. here is mine after it had been cut, de-barked (is that a term?), and stained.

in the process of adding nail heads... this was actually a lot harder than i thought it would be, because the stump is not perfectly straight and i wanted the nail heads to appear straight but also stay the same distance from the top... no to mention i pinched my fingers quite a few times. not to worry though, the hubs came in to save the day and finished it right up.

in its new home... i think she looks happy, don't you?

i'm obsessed with it.

any diy projects you're proud of??
